I’m a vegetarian. Not the militant kind (unless you enjoy that). I don’t want to get into a discussion here about why, other than killing animals so that I can eat them makes me uncomfortable. Also, I just fucking ADORE animals.
As a Dominatrix, this discomfort extends to my Temenos and the tools and toys I use to create experiences for myself and those with whom I play. Because of this, I practice what I call a “Consensual Cruelty” ethic. This means that my dungeon is not comprised of any part of animal body parts. (This preference also relates to kinds of clothes I wear and the gifts I will accept.)
This means that Temenos can accommodate ethical vegetarians or vegans.
What do I use, you ask? Many wonderful alternatives: faux leather, faux suede, faux fur, silicone, rubber, vinyl, and other quality materials. In some cases, you won’t be able to tell the difference, and you likely will not care. I have some very high-quality leatherette that looks, feels, and behaves like the real thing. I may also be able to emulate the smell of leather — just ask.
There are advantages to not using leather. Aside from it being less cruel, another benefit is hygiene. Since most of my gear is actually a fabric, it means I can more effectively clean it. So, that hood that got saliva on it? Or that body bag that got soaked with sweat and had some guy’s smelly nuts pressed up against the inside? I can just pop them in the washing machine and effectively sanitize them.
Does this mean that your favorite leather piece(s) can’t be included in your scene? No. I’m open to you bringing something of your own, such as a hood, flogger, or clothing. Please just ask in any session request you make, just to make sure I’m comfortable with it.
If you’re a vegetarian or vegan, or otherwise appreciate this ethic, and would prefer to be in a space with a Domme that extends the principle of consent to all species, I’m your Goddess!
